Looking For Car Or Van Insurance Quotes And The Cheapest Insurance Policy Possible

If you drive a van, you will need van insurance which can be pretty specific or specialist auto insurance.

The main reason being that often vans are used for a commercial purpose or for business use rather than pleasure use, and business use means a higher level of risk and insurance cost.

In addition, van insurance should include the coverage that you will need if an accident should occur.  If you use your van in your business, what would it mean to you to be without your van for a few days?

Make sure this does not happen to you, when you purchase a van insurance policy, ensure that it covers a replacement van for use while your regular van is in the repair shop.

You will want to have adequate van insurance to cover you against all incidentals and the van will probably be in your business name, not in your personal name.  If your van is being used in a business capacity, make this very clear to your insurer or your insurance may be null and void if it is being used for a business purpose.

The cost of van insurance is usually more expensive if you are going to be carrying passengers.

This is because you will need extra liability insurance to cover all of the passengers, in case of an accident or loss.  Don’t try to skimp on your insurance costs by not taking out the correct coverage and paying for the right policy, it will be you that ends up getting hurt in the end with a serious lawsuit.

In the event that you loan your van out, the person or company that borrow the van may need to take out their own insurance with a car insurance company that they have a direct relationship with.  Never allow someone to borrow your vehicle without adequate insurance in place, or you are the one who is ultimately responsible, and if there is a serious accident, you may be on the hook for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Another consideration of insurance requirements for a van may be the GVW or gross vehicle weight.  If a vehicle is over a certain GVW, you will need adequate insurance to cover against loss and damage.  Some specific types of coverage include liability, accident benefits, uninsured motorist/automobile protection and property damage coverage.

Any employees who regularly use your van will also need to be covered under the policy, but you will need to ensure that the van is only used for a business purpose.  For example, if an employee uses the company van for personal errands and is in an accident, your coverage may be void.

Always ensure that you have adequate van insurance in place.

In the case of a company vehicle, it becomes very important that you have the proper van insurance in place as you are ultimately responsible for that vehicle, being that it is owned by your company.

Explore with your insurance company, all of the coverage you require and options available especially if you do need van insurance.

Your article has raised a lot of questions that I have for my insurance company, these are points that I never thought to ask so I might not be getting the best coverage I could get. Thank you so much for the points you brought up regarding gross weight, passengers, etc.

I have heard that terms are restricted on vans as well in financing not just insurance. You see vans everywhere so I am not sure why they are penalized if so many people are buying them and using them.

I sure am sick of seeing so many national television commercials from the insurance giants who promise savings and then turn out to offer rates no lower than the competitive rate. I understand there has to be a competitive ground floor, but they shouldn’t mislead people with claims of offering the lowest rates. I find when it comes to auto insurance, going with the brick and mortar companies will truly give you the lowest rates because the mom and pop companies don’t have to pay for expensive national advertising campaigns. It’s the advertising overhead that makes it impossible for the big insurance companies to provide low rates.

I am usually always searching for a better auto insurance quote and I usually look towards the mom and pop insurance agencies instead of the large name brands. I find that the insurance companies which advertise on a national level, either on television or print, need to charge higher rates in order to generate enough extra revenue for their mass media ad budgets. Some of the best insurance contracts I have had have been with little known, family operated insurance agencies. I have never bought insurance from a company that was not local to me. So if I like the quote from Specialist Auto Insurance, how will that work?

This article makes sense if you think about it there really aren’t to many full sized vans out there any more that are used for a personal use and this is probably why. Although they do use them a lot in commercial business and passengers so the insurance being higher there makes a great deal of sense. Aren’t there even some vans that carry children for the schools? Other than that you just don’t see them anymore.

It is understandable that you would want to find the cheapest insurance for your van as possible, especially if you are using it or a work vehicle. I was wondering if you can get fleet quotes and if so do they give you any additional discounts for having the entire fleet insured through them? Insurance is not one of my favorite things to discuss abut it is a necessary evil, so the more discounts I can get the better off I am. Please make a post if you know of any fleet discounts, and thank you for making such a great blog about this issue.
